The Riga City Council, University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, and Riga Stradiņš University have signed a memorandum of cooperation to jointly develop the "Knowledge Mile" area. This initiative aims to attract both Latvian and international students and promote Riga as a European city of innovation and knowledge.
The Riga city centre and Pardaugava area have transformed into a unique student hub, forming the "Knowledge Mile." The proximity of Latvia's largest scientific universities - the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, and Riga Stradiņš University - creates a strategically connected academic zone. This foundation supports the development of science, urban environment, and entrepreneurship. The memorandum signifies a commitment from the Riga City Council and the universities to promote Riga as a centre of innovation and knowledge regionally in the Baltic States, Northern Europe, and globally.
The initiative will focus on enhancing research and innovation to boost the capacity and competitiveness of educational institutions. Leveraging scientists, emerging talents, and cutting-edge technologies, Riga aims to find effective solutions to complex challenges, reinforcing its position as a leading hub of knowledge and innovation.
